DSTV customers enrolled under the Swazi MTN Mobile Money service can now pay their DStv subscriptions and have their accounts reactivated anywhere, anytime.

DSTV customers enrolled under the Swazi MTN Mobile Money service can now pay their DStv subscriptions and have their accounts reactivated anywhere, anytime.

This arrangement applies strictly to DStv subscribers who have local accounts.

This came into fruition following a partnership between Swazi MTN and MultiChoice Swaziland.

Speaking during the official launch of the new mobile money subscription model held yesterday at Swazi MTN head offices in Ezulwini, MultiChoice Swaziland General Manager Phumi Drummond said this solution would greatly reduce the inconvenience of subscribers in remote areas as they would be able to pay their subscriptions anywhere, anytime and be reconnected instantly.

She said subscribers started using the solution the moment they discovered the DStv logo in their mobile money payment options a few months ago.

“This project has been a long time coming and we have had a few hurdles along the way.

“But, I would like to thank both the dedicated MTN and DStv personnel who have worked tirelessly to see the project come into fruition,” she said.

Drummond said as a company, they were constantly on the lookout for ways to improve their services in terms of platform content, delivery systems and customer interface.

“We listen to our subscribers and the business decisions we make daily are influenced by the feedback we receive from them,” she said.

Therefore, she said they partnered with Swazi MTN to develop the mobile money payment solution to add to the range of payment options available to their customers.

“We will continue to reshape our business to improve the subscribers experience whenever they engage with us, be it for subscription payments or any other issues,” she said.

With an access rate of over 70 per cent to the total population, Drummond said the mobile money payment solution remains truly an African success story.

“It is imperative that we make DStv subscription payments easy as possible for all our customers no matter where they are in the country,” she said.

Swazi MTN Chief Consumer Officer Sam Shongwe said they would be no additional charges or tariffs for subscribers.

He stressed that subscribers have to first have a Mobile Money account to qualify to use the platform.

Just recently, Swazi MTN in partnership with the Swaziland Revenue Authority (SRA) launched a new tax payment model which allowed taxpayers to pay up to nine taxes using mobile money.

With the new DStv payment model, subscribers have found everything they need to remain in the good books of MultiChoice, as well as keep their DStvs connected.
