Arts and Culture willing to help SWAMA
The Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture has promised to help Swaziland Association of Music Artist (SWAMA).
This follows a poor attended annual general meeting organised by SWAMA on Saturday at Greater Alfar Restaurant. Arts and Cultures Vusi Nkhambule said it was not true that they had abandoned SWAMA."The reason we initiated this meeting is because SWAMA failed to deliver any report about the association. In our meeting with them, they complained that they had no money to run the association. It is hard for us to make any contribution when you are not even sure it exists or has any members. On the other hand, the few people who attended the meeting show that they are still interested in the association," he said.
Nkambule further said he was disappointed that some of the committee members did not show up. "If the leadership does not show up in such meeting, that creates a negative impression to the members. For us is to check if everything is normal. We are still willing to assist you, but one thing you must know that you put everything in order,” stressed Nkhambule.
Due to the poor attendance, the elections were postponed. It was noted that it was against the association constitution to continue with elections if they did not make any nominations.
According to the rule, nominations are done 21 days before the election.
The postponement of the election means that Mshikishi, who was hoping to step down as president, will continue with it for the next two weeks while nominations will be on progress.
