‘The King should talk male circumcision’

MANZINI chiefs say they are skeptical of preaching the male circumcision gospel for the people belonged to the King and he has not told them about the exercise.
This was said by Prince Logcogco Mangaliso of Gundvwini yesterday at the Tum’s George Hotel during a meeting for chiefs by the ministry of health.
Prince Logcogco said usually, when there is an exercise of national importance touching communities, the King commissions chiefs to tell their subjects what to do. The King should be given respect and the honour he deserves. “Inkhosi ayiva ngadlebenye iyadzinga kululekwa ngubo lababuke letindzaba temphilo bese kukhuluma yona itjela bobabe tikhulu ngalowomsebenti.” Loosely translated – the King must hear all sides of an issue, take advice from those watching over the communities – then he can tell the chiefs as leaders of the communities on what is the next step forward. The prince also wanted to know from the health managers whether they had considered things like Umzimbomubi, a condition which causes sores not to heal.
He asked why the ministry and stakeholders were not scaling up behaviour change programmes and advocate for abstinence instead of flooding people with condoms and all that.
“Tjelani lesive siyekele kuya eludzakeni kunekutsi nisinike embagambhudze ekuhamba eludzakeni,” said the Prince. He said the people of Swaziland need to be responsible and stop having unsafe sex, particularly the youth who should not be engaging in sex at all.
