HIS MAJESTY KING MSWATI III OFF TO TAIWAN
HIS Majesty King Mswati III left yesterday for the Republic of China on Taiwan on a state visit which is expected to last for two weeks.
The King left at around noon and was accompanied by Inkhosikati LaMotsa. Other members of the King’s delegation include Foreign Affairs Minister Lutfo Dlamini, Prince Hlangusemphi, Minister of Economic Planning and Development; Nelisiwe Shongwe, Minister of Information Communications and Technology; Jabulile Mashwama, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade; and Macford Sibandze, Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Prince Mahlaba, Princess Lomathemba and Chief Ndlondlo Tsabedze of Malindza, among others.Principal Secretary of the Foreign Affairs ministry Clifford Mamba said: “This is just a state visit to Taiwan.”
Present to see the King off were Emakhosikati to His Majesty, Sigodlo, Acting Prime Minister Themba Masuku, Cabinet Ministers, Members of the King’s Advisory Committee, Chiefs and members of different committees were also present. Regiments and members of the public also came in their numbers to give the King a send off.
His Majesty has been invited by President Ma Ying-yeou.
His Majesty and the delegation will convene a Taiwan-Swaziland Business Seminar in the Grand Ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Taipei in the afternoon of July 30, 2010, to help Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises better understand the investment environment in Swaziland. In addition, the ministers and other officials accompanying His Majesty would sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Chunghwa Telecom and CECI Engineering Consultants, which will serve as a basis for further strengthening economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
Swaziland, a southern African nation, is an important diplomatic ally of Taiwan. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1968, the two countries have cooperated in areas such as economic development, agriculture, medical care and human resources training. The Swazi government has spared no effort in supporting Taiwan’s efforts to participate in the United Nations, the World Health Organisation, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the International Civil Aviation Organisation, among other international organisations.
