His Majesty King Mswati III says Swaziland has a desire to be part of the knowledge economy.
He said to achieve this it was essential for the country to establish partnerships with friendly organisations that had travelled this route.
The King added that it was important to develop the country’s Bio-Technology Park, adding that it was currently at design stages.
He said he was happy to learn that government and CECI engineering had signed a consultancy agreement to develop the infrastructure designs for the industry.
“To this end I am pleased to express my country’s appreciation for the support we are receiving from the government of Taiwan,” he said.
He added that investing in Swaziland presents the best opportunity for any manufacturer or distributor to sell their products in the various local, regional and international markets which includes amongst others SACU, SADC, COMESA and the world.
“I am pleased to inform you that the Kingdom of Eswatini will next month host the COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit as well as the COMESA business forum. At the Summit Swaziland will assume the chairmanship of COMESA,” he said.
The King told the business people that the regional grouping consists of 19 countries with a market volume of over 450 million people.
“The COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit and the business forum will coincide with the Swaziland International Trade Fair. I am happy to learn that our invitation to business people and entreprenuers from taiwan to participate in these important networking events was received with enthusiasm,” the King said.
