Ex-Health Minister now ambassador for peace
FORMER Minister of Health and Social Welfare Njabulo Mabuza has been conferred with the ambassador for peace award by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF).
Mabuza was awarded alongside former Principal Secretary Bremer Nxumalo and others. The awarding ceremony was held yesterday at the Tums George Hotel. Also present during the ceremony was UPF president Dr. Preston Hyun Ji-Nim Moon.
Making his address, Moon said the world still faces a great challenge to peacefully integrate the religious and cultural traditions of all people.
“As we all know, religious conflict is right now an ever present threat to the stability and security of the world’.
Moon believes that peace among faith traditions cannot come about through mere dialogue or through tolerating one another’s prayers and rituals. He said a true interfaith experience is a celebration of the core principles, values, and aspirations that bind people together as one family.
Moon also spoke strongly about the importance of families.
“The family represents the most intimate of human relationships. Therefore, the family should be the school of love where we learn to love all humanity in its richness and diversity.”
“Marriage and family are fundamental building blocks of any society, but every nation in the world is in grave danger of losing this most valuable tradition.
Divorce and family breakdown are at an all time high”.
In addition, Moon said the healing of the family is a spiritual task.
Meanwhile, UPF Swaziland chairperson and former Senate President Reverend Abednego Dlamini said in the global front, peace is fast disappearing and that conflict is increasingly becoming an option as opposed to peaceful engagement.
“As the UPF, we advocate for innovative and effective methods and approaches to achieve peace, with special consideration to the spiritual element, because we believe that peace is a direct product of a heart and mind that genuinely desires peace”.
