Should Police Provide Protection To Albinos?
Music pirates arrested in Manzini
TWO music pirates who sell fake CDs and DVDs were arrested after trying to sell CDs to gospel singer and founder of New Creation Messengers Vusi Ndaba.
They tried to sell him fake CDs of his own work. Relating the story, Ndaba said he was relaxing in his car in Manzini at the Fitness Zone parking lot when a young man came to his car, selling the fake CDs.
“He had a selection of albums for various gospel artists, including mine. I asked him to get me DVDs of New Creation Messengers and he told me he could get them from their ‘factory’. Upon return, he brought with him a friend of his who told me they had run out of the stock but instead brought CDs of my different albums. By that time, I had called my security personnel from Scorpion who apprehended them and we took them to the police. They then led the police to the place where they ‘manufacture’ the fake music where they found a number of the fakes still being processed. The police collected all these, which will be used as evidence in court and they were promptly arrested,” he said.
Ndaba also cautioned the public against buying fake music, saying such is a major setback to them as artists because making music is very expensive and when people support such an alleged business, it is going to destroy the music industry.
“Our work involves a lot of costs so it’s very painful when piracy receives support from the very same Swazi people we expect to protect us.
“Let us all join hands and fight piracy and the only solution is for the people to desist from buying fake music. People should also know that as gospel artists we are also involved in social responsibility work where we help the needy and under privileged, something which we do through the proceeds from our work. If we allow piracy, there is no way artists are going to survive,” he said.
On another note, Ndaba added that he was awaiting the release of his latest album titled ‘UJobe Wasemandulo’, which he recorded in South Africa recently. He said the album would hit the shelves in a week or two after which he will make plans to officially launch it.
