MANZINI FA IN ANOTHER SCANDAL
SOCCER – THE Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) faces yet another hot potato on its lap after the controversial region was accused by one of their affiliates, Manzini United, of issuing clearances for 16 of their players to Milling Hotspurs without their consent.
United have since written a letter to the MRFA suspending all the 16 players, which means just about the whole Hotspurs team have been suspended.United are campaigning in the Manzini First Division League while Milling Hotspurs are campaigning in the region’s Promotion League. United want compensation for all their 16 players in the form of their transfer fees as they were forced to register new players in the team at the beginning of the season after all their players were transferred to Hotspurs.
A fuming United Managing Director, Sipho ‘Mateki’ Mdluli, has revealed that he was not consulted when all these players were transferred to Hotspurs and that he wants compensation for all the players from the MRFA.
He mentioned that all the players would remain suspended until the MRFA and all the teams involved resolve the issue of the transferred players amicably.
“We need to get to the bottom of this rot and as a team we need to be compensated for the transfer of the players. I was forced to register new players at the beginning of the season after I realised that I had no players as all of them had been cleared to Milling Hotspurs without my consent as the team’s Managing Director,” he said. When reached on the issue, MRFA Secretary Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza mentioned that they would convene both teams to find a solution to the matter.
He decried the fact that Mdluli had already run to the media about the issue yet it was supposed to be dealt with by the office.
“It is not wise to always copy letters directed to the MRFA office to the media before they are even deliberated upon.
“For now, I just cannot comment on the matter and will just convene all the parties involved to solve the issue,” said Siboza.
The MRFA is not new to such accusations after they were once also accused of clearing disbanded Mhlane FC players to other teams without compensating the team. It is not clear who benefited from the transfer of the players.
