I killed UNISWA student - suspect
A man charged with murdering his girlfriend, who was a student at the University of Swaziland, Luyengo Campus, yesterday admitted to have killed the deceased.
Goodman Jabu Mloyi Mngometulu, however, told the High Court that he was pleading guilty to a charge of culpable homicide and not murder.
Mngometulu’s guilty plea to culpable homicide was rejected by Crown Counsel Brian Magagula on the grounds that there were a number of a stab wounds discovered on the deceased’s body.
As a result, Judge Bheki Maphalala proceeded with a murder trial case.
Mngometulu, who was earlier on dumped by his lawyer, George Langa following a serious misunderstanding with him, is now being represented by Sabelo Bhembe.
He is alleged to have killed Ntombizile Sacolo on February 23, 2006 at the Luyengo Campus.
Evidence led in court was that the deceased’s body was found by her colleagues inside her room, which had to be opened with a duplicate key.
Inside the room, there were bloody marks on the floor and the deceased was lying facing up in the wardrobe on the floor.
The deceased was covered with a duvet cover. The case continues.
