Transformative masculinities workshop
THE Church Forum on HIV and AIDS, in conjunction with PSI Swaziland, will next Thursday host a symposium to address issues that perpetuate the spread of HIV as well as gender equity.
Rev. Zwanini Shabalala, the Director of Church Forum, in a statement issued yesterday, said the workshop emanated from identified issues affecting particularly men, especially how they could be influenced into taking a lead in issues of HIV and AIDS.
“The influence of religion and culture on these issues shall also be discussed. We anticipate having liberal motivational speakers who will have an influence on our Church leaders. We hope this will lead to transformation in the men’s perspectives on such issues and to finding common understanding on how the Church can respond to these issues,” Rev. Shabalala said.
He added that it was for this reason that they had organised the symposium as it endeavoured to adress particularly Gender Based Violence issues.
