Steffen lauds management for success

MATATA Retail Managing Director Herman Steffen has dedicated the success of the business to his young generation of managers, as well as a hard working and dedicated staff.
This, said Stephen, has seen the business opening a new outlet at Sciolla Complex in Big Bend.
Steffen spoke during the official opening of their new shop, Fresh @ Matata on Wednesday. He described his youthful management led by Hans Steffen, who is the director of the new outlet and Boniface Mdluli as a hard working team that is coming up with new ideas on how to develop the business and match the current standards of operation, which is driven by technological developments.
“I cannot forget my staff because they are the driving force behind the business and are a major resource for the Matata family. A happy staff will extend that happiness to the customers and become productive in the process,” he said.
Adding, Steffen said he strongly believed that in any business one should take good care of staff if they were to be successful. “I have also shared this with my management team, that they should always make sure employees are happy so that we can have improved performance,” he said.
On another note, the MD said the opening of the new shop was an old dream which dated back to the year his grandfather lived. He said it was his grandfather that initially started the Matata business back in 1896. “He always wanted to open an outlet around Big Bend when Illovo began its operations and now we have made that dream a reality. I’m quite pleased with the achievement,” he said.
Hans Steffen said the shop was here to offer the best service to the people around Big Bend at all times.  “We thank everyone for the continued support and promise to give you the best service,” he said.
