Sprinter rolls over at Mehl’wabovu
Passengers screamed when a fully loaded sprinter trading as Zamokuhle Transport veered off the road, a situation that led to the 25 people on board being rushed to hospital.
The incident happened on Friday at around 1p.m when the sprinter heading towards Manzini from Nhlangano just at the head of the notorious Mehl’wabovu slope suddenly veered to the side.
Still puzzled, passengers saw the driver, Bonginkosi Nzima, ‘wrestling’ with the steering wheel trying to avoid catastrophe after it had already smashed the guardrails as well as hilly sides of the road.
caused
No one knows what could have caused Nzima to lose control of the vehicle but it’s said it could be that the road was slippery given the showers that kept pouring since morning.
It’s said after realising that he had lost control of the vehicle, Nzima was brave to make sure that it did not go down the nearby donga.
Despite the screams from the passengers who were already panicking, it’s said others started cursing and shouting but others were thankful to Nzima for not panicking when he lost control of the mini bus.
Other motorists directed traffic after the incident whilst others rushed those injured to Hlatikulu Hospital.
After reports reached town that the sprinter had rolled over, it’s said a number of people rushed to the hospital to find out if their relatives were on board.
rushing
A former Evelyn Baring High School student said she was expecting her boyfriend when later he called to inform her that he was among of the passengers.
“He just called me just now and inform me of the accident. I am now rushing to Hlatikulu Hospital to check on him,” she said.
