SOCCER – THE National Football Association (FA) has set Monday next week as deadline for those interested in applying for the Technical Director position.
The eventual candidate is due to officially assume his duties on January 1 next year and would report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Frederick Mngomezulu.
The country’s football mother body is running an advert, as with effect from today, inviting suitable candidate to apply for the post. The incumbent would be responsible for all activities under the Technical Development department.
These include grassroots football development, youth football development, elite football development, training and licencing of coaches as approved by the FA and international football bodies. Other responsibilities for the eventual candidate includes establishment of a national system to identify and nurture talent, research and documentation on development in football, women football development, education and development of football personnel. He/she would also be required to draw up and leading the National Technical Policy under the authority of the FA.
The FA has set strict requirements for applicants and these include that they should have the highest coaching qualified in the country or internationally.
They must also be credible and recognised in the world of football, including possessing expertise in football education. Above all, the applicants must be recognised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).
In an interview, Mngomezulu further mentioned that the association would soon be running another advert, inviting people to apply for the position of Communications and Media Officer.
“We are still in the process of putting that advert, which would be run in the local media as soon as the process of hiring Technical Director has been finished. Hopefully, the Media Officer advert would also start running before the end of next month,” he said.
