SWIMMING – CLOSE to 230 swimmers took part in the Fourth Eye Clinique Inter Primary Schools’ relay gala in Big Bend last Wednesday.
Swaziland National Swimming Association (SNSA) Secretary Janice Hopf yesterday revealed that six schools took part in the event.
She named them as Majombe, Mayaluka, Ubombo, Thembelisha, Usutu and Sifundzani Primary Schools.
“There were close to 320 swimmers who took part in the event.
“Age groups started at U/8 to U/13 Male and Female Categories and all four strokes, Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle were swam in a team of four in a relay format.
“This event is a very unique gala as top swimmers from each school swim in a team of mixed with developmental swimmers, all swimming together and cheering each other on to the finish.  The unity and spirit of this event is remarkable,” she said.
She thanked Celma Nienaber for organising 14 community service students from Sisekelo High School to help officiate at the gala.
She also thanked Eye Clinique for sponsoring the event and gave each child that took part in the event a tog bag.
