HIS Majesty King Mswati III has commended the Mdluli family of Mbilaneni area in the Shiselweni region for honouring their responsibility and observing Swazi culture by paying dowry for Princess Siphiwe.

His Majesty made the remarks during Princess Siphiwe’s lobola ceremony at Ludzidzini Royal Residence the past weekend. Princess Siphiwe is wife of the late Chief Maphumzane of Mbilaneni. His son Chief Malambule, who took over after his demise, took it upon himself to finish off where his father left by paying dowry for his mother.

After receiving the cattle from the Mdluli family, His Majesty said he was impressed with the quality of the cattle they brought as lobola as it indicated that they still loved and cared for the Princess who got married to the late chief many years ago. He said he was also excited about the state of the Princess’ health saying it was also a clear indication that the Mdluli family was still taking good care of her.

His Majesty also commended the Mdlulis for not shying away even though they didn’t have the dowry price.

“This shows that you are aware of the responsibility and also that you are not crooks but a responsible family which does not shy away from their responsibilities,” he said.

His Majesty also thanked the community of Mbilaneni area for supporting the chief as seen by the numbers of the people who came through for the ceremony.

“I encourage you to continue working together and supporting the chief in the activities of the community,” His Majesty said.

Her Majesty the Indlovukazi who was visibly elated, concurred with His Majesty, stating that said she was happy that the Mdluli family came through to pay what was due to the royal family.

“This is a clear indication that you are aware of your responsibilities and the need   to fulfil culture and tradition of the country,” she said.

Her Majesty pointed out that the actions by the Mdluli family strengthened the relations between the two families which was the whole objective of the lobola ceremony.
