Gamedze pledges over E200 000 payout to Manana family

Gamedze announced the kind gesture during Manana’s memorial service held at the Mbabane Alliance Church yesterday.

Manana, who was described as someone who was loyal, a unifier, peacemaker, parent, and intelligent administrator by Gamedze, succumbed to death while admitted at the Mbabane Government Hospital two weeks ago.

The Swallows chairman  told  the over 300 mourners that the money was meant to show his gratitude to the late Manana for dedicating his life to the red and white glamour side and further  contributing to the team’s  success for over 14 years.   “I would like to thank him for being loyal to me and the team in which he has dedicated his life  serving.

He was the pillar of the team, especially in administration, and that was evident in him being one of the top three administrators in CAF.

“After discussing Manana’s death with my family, we felt it was best that we offer something to his family as he has done a lot for us and Mbabane Swallows.  He also played a major role in unifying the team by ending internal infightings and strived for togetherness and harmony. Swallows is what it is today because of the dedication and love he had for the team,” he said.

The chairman further thanked the entire football fraternity for their support at this difficult time.

“We are humbled by the support  we have received from the football fraternity. It shows that he was someone with humility as he went as far as helping other teams with their administrative issues. He will forever be missed,” he said.

Manana’s bitter and sweet love for ‘Bull’
SOCCER – Mbabane Swallows late CEO Sibusiso Manana hated Highlanders for depriving his team trophies in the boardroom but never wanted to see them not part of the premier League top flight.
This was disclosed by Swallows boss Victor ‘Maradona’ when sharing his moments with the late award winning administrator.
“He once told me how he hates Highlanders for depriving us trophies through boardroom decisions in the past years.
However, before his death he told me that he did not want to see the team being relegated. He loved the rivalry inside the field of play when the two sides clashed in the Mbabane derby. He said we needed to do everything we can to make sure they don’t go down,” he said. Notable Highlanders officials present during the memorial service included Director Marwick Khumalo, patrons Moses Dlamini, Charles ‘Ace’ Jele, Benson Dlamini, among others.
