Sihlangu needs at least five clubs for national team selection

SOCCER -  South Africa seasoned mentor Serame Letsoaka has recommended that the senior national team Sihlangu needs to have about five teams from which they select their squad.
Serame attributed his recommendation to Sihlangu’s poor showing in the recently ended COSAFA Cup where the team failed to perform following the absence of Mbabane Swallows players.
He said  for the national team to be at the top, local clubs should need to step up to the challenge and produce good quality players for the squad.

“In South Africa, we have the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates who are highly competitive and a majority of Bafana Bafana players are selected from these teams. It shouldn’t be just one team at the top so that stability is guaranteed even in the absence of one team. Sihlangu played well in the COSAFA last year but the team didn’t perform well this time as the side was on CAF assignment,” he said.
